This is to acknowledge Liberty Trust and the provision of an interest free home loan which we started in 2010. We were both working and it was a first home in Upper Hutt Wellington after we had been overseas in the US for Bible College training for the Deaf.
Galatians 6:9
“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”
We sought a lifestyle property to move away from stresses of Wellington work as Mike cut back on teaching, Fiona finished work and our children moved on with their adult lives, but we were only able to afford a small farmlet in coastal Wairarapa, in 2017. This was a sideways move while still half way on Liberty Trust.
The opportunity came up shortly after for Mike to do different more fulfilling work in Palmerston North so we moved again, in 2019, not overcommitting to move up property wise but sideways, retaining approximately the same value but fortunately finding a spacious bungalow and a big enough section to keep our hens and grow our own vegetables in Marton. It needed some TLC so we have been gradually smartening it up. Peeking under a broken vinyl floor tile we ended up redoing the whole kitchen and using a big chunk of our savings. We were able to start saving again, and be blessed with work, becoming more manageable financially with salary rises so the proportion of spending on our home loan reduced from nearly 40% to 27%.
Alle these years of no interest LT loan has meant we are now in a place to bless others. For many years we also wondered at the worth and purpose of going to US, for nearly 2 years back in 2000 with no income, realizing now the networking and training to support Fiona to focus on current Bible translation into NZ Sign Language. We are so appreciative now, finally paying off our LT loan, and able to also look at being closer to our family in retirement while many people are still struggling to cope with bank interest rate changes and not yet having paid off their mortgages. When we talk to people about Liberty Trust there often the mental desire to be able to borrow the money now, without realizing the long term cost. Better to sow, in contributions, and repayments and that does costs a bit in time and money, for long term harvest which we have abundantly received. Thank you God and Liberty Trust!
