What is a storehouse? The Hebrew word was “owtsar”,
meaning: “a depository:- used as an armoury, cellar, garner (storehouse for
corn, granary), i.e a “storehouse”, treasure-house”.
The
Pataka (storehouse) was an important focal point of every Maori village, where
food and taonga (treasure) were stored securely.
Our
logo reflects the storehouse of the ark which housed righteous Noah, his family
and a pair of every breathing bird and animal and their food for over a year
while God judged the world with a mighty flood.
When Liberty Trust began in 1989 we had no
funds whatsoever. Following God’s Word many “pooled their resources to lend
interest free to others”. The contributions of these faithful have enabled us
to today operate with 3 million dollars in continuous circulation. Three million
dollars has been given into this part of God’s storehouse to be used wisely
for the benefit of God’s Kingdom. We have lent and received back and lent
again a total of $7 million interest free, releasing God’s people to serve Him
with greater liberty.
As part of God’s Storehouse we are careful
not to hoard funds (Lk 12:15-21). Last year 16 mortgages were given, and 9
mortgages were fully repaid. We keep no more in our bank than is required for the next
loan.
In contemplating our God-given mandate
over the last 12 months we have been conscious that the Old Testament
storehouses gave out as well as received.
“Storehouse” is about giving and
receiving. As we give we sow for His Kingdom.
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will
also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.
Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not
reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.
Now He who supplies seed to the sower and
bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will
enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.
2 Corinthians 9:6,11
God
promises seed to sowers—not hoarders, and promises to increase the store of
seed.
We trust that God will turn the seed we sow into a great harvest of
righteousness!
God’s desire is that His people shall live
as one people, in loving, supportive, community. And that isn’t just a dream.
May they be brought to complete
unity, to let the world know that you sent me.
John 17 v 23
May God bless you as we join
together in His purpose.
